Hello, sagasvision

A first note on why I'm starting a blog about adaptive optics, AR, and the science of how we see.

Close-up of an adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscope (AOSLO) on an optical breadboard, showing mirrors, lens mounts, and fiber-coupled light sources.

Welcome to sagasvision — a place to share my PhD journey from San Francisco, CA to Waterloo, ON.

Why this blog

I’ve had some very interesting professional experiences at Google XR that I could not write about, and will now have some more interesting experiences getting a PhD in Waterloo that I can write about.

What to expect

A few categories I plan to write under:

  • Adaptive optics — building an AOSLO, calibrating deformable mirrors, and imaging the retina with 2 photon stimulation. A how-to if you will.
  • AR & displays — new consumer products, emerging display technologies, waveguides and how to use them: from my experience to yours.
  • The science of seeing — psychophysics, color, motion, and the perceptual quirks that make vision research fun.

Posts will range from short notes on a single paper to longer essays when something deserves it. Tags at the top of the homepage are the fastest way to filter.

If any of this is your thing too, the RSS feed is the best way to follow along.
